The importance of data collection for webinars

Of course you use webinars to share your message with the outside world. But don’t be mistaken: the data you get from webinars are just as important. If not more important.

A webinar is a very efficient and accessible way to reach your target group. But collecting information about participants in the webinar is just as important as getting your message across. You kill two birds with one stone, as it were: by using the right functionalities, you involve participants and gather information about them at the same time. For example, you can check whether your target market understands your message correctly by asking polls.
 

What data does a webinar platform collect?

All webinar data are registered by our platform. This means that a wealth of information is available immediately after the online presentation. Think about this:

  • •    viewing time
  • •    answers to poll and survey questions

You will also receive an overview of the entire chat history so that you can read back all questions viewers have asked.

Good to know: data collection does not stop at the live webinar. The on demand version of the presentation also collects data after the live broadcasting. It’s the only platform that does that.
 

What can you do with all these data?

Data is of no use to you if you don't get any insights from them. So what can you do with them? Data from webinars can be used to further optimise webinars. What kind of questions did you get a lot of response to? How long did participants stay and watch? In addition, you get to know your participants better and better. You will be able to tailor future marketing activities even better to the needs of the target group. It is therefore important to analyse the data properly in order to understand what the viewers want to tell you.
 

BONUS TIP: create an API connection

The most convenient thing to do is to add the data from the webinar directly to your own system. For example, potential leads. Or in the case of e-learning: the results of tests. Fortunately, it is possible to have the collected data run directly through to your own database. This requires a so-called API connection (Application Programming Interface). An API makes it possible for data to be exchanged between your system and the webinar platform in a completely secure manner.

By making such a connection between the webinar platform and, for example, your Marketing Automation tool or CRM, you save a lot of time. What's more, you take a lot of work out of the hands of the marketing department or the sales team.
